Casting Call for Riptide
Riptide are an immersive theatre company based in Leeds. The company specialises in durational and personal experiences, which take place across cities.
Riptides are hidden, dangerous currents of water that pull you out to sea. A powerful force carries audience members along, as they journey through our secret spaces and fragmented narratives.
Riptides are unpredictable and can pop up randomly, it is only when you are in the riptide that you know it is there.
Most of our performances occur in public spaces, passers-by may be oblivious to the fact you are caught in the riptide.
Like the tide, our structures stay roughly the same but the way we engage audiences changes from person to person, performance to performance, day to day.
After the success of the most recent ground-breaking experience, ‘The Lucky Ones’, Riptide are back with the next iteration of the series.
The Lucky Ones
The Lucky Ones is a series of durational, pervasive performances which last a number of weeks, across a city.
Audience members are given the start and end dates and are told anyone they meet could be part of the performance.
From there it is up to them to engage in the piece, to make decisions, to uncover different parts of the story.
The experience is part-theatre, part-video game, part-podcast, part-escape room.
Funded by Arts Council England, Leeds BID, Leeds Inspired and Leeds City Council.
